Here’s a few Tips and Ideas that I’ve been trying out and have stolen from other people too!!
( I am going to post further blogs with more info and ideas on each section! - but here is an outline for now ;) )
1. Family Faves – Talk with your family about what they like to eat and what they’d like to have in your 3 month’s supply.
2. Shelf Stable Substitutions – Investigate & experiment with shelf stable ingredients and recipes to replace items needing refrigeration.
3. Get Ideas – Search for recipes on internet (bookstores, library) search – canned foods – pantry/boating/emergency recipes
4. Just DO IT! Plan those menus! - Make a menu for the week & post it on the fridge door! It‘s so comforting to know ‘what’s for dinner’!
5. Make a List and Shop by the Meal – Buy one or more extra meals each week! (Much better than buying a case of sweet potatoes!)
6. Store food by the Meal instead of grouped by type – Banana/Cannery/ Decorative/File boxes – Shelves by the week – Bag it!
7. Find hidden room in your house – Coat closet w/shelves – linen closet – top kitchen cupboards – closet shelves – under beds – behind books

Easy frozen veggies – meats – MEALS! “Backback Gourmet” has dehydrated meal recipes like freeze dried backpacker meals but homemade.Veggies best in canning jars with air taken out – can reconstitute in same container. (poky veggies put holes in bags).
Pressure Canning –
Rocker or pressure gauge style. easy and safe – follow directions! Boneless chicken breasts very easiest!!!
Small containers – meal size are great so if no refrigeration – they won’t spoil
Don’t worry – just get started!
